Several Applicants Withdraw from Indonesia’s Sekolah Rakyat Teacher Recruitment, Selection Process Continues

JAKARTA, July 26, 2026  Indonesia’s recruitment process for teachers under the Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) program is continuing despite several applicants withdrawing before the selection process is completed. The government has emphasized that the recruitment process remains on schedule and in accordance with established procedures.

The Ministry of Social Affairs, in coordination with relevant government agencies, has adjusted the timeline for several stages of the administrative selection process. Officials stated that the schedule changes were necessary due to the high volume of applications, which required additional time for document verification and validation.

During the recruitment process, reports emerged that a number of applicants had voluntarily withdrawn. Public discussions have cited various reasons, including personal considerations and the acceptance of alternative employment opportunities. However, the government has not indicated that these withdrawals have affected the overall implementation of the Sekolah Rakyat program.

Authorities reaffirmed that recruiting qualified teachers remains a priority for the program. Candidates will continue to undergo administrative screening, competency assessments, and other required evaluation stages to ensure that selected teachers meet the professional standards needed for deployment across Indonesia.

The Sekolah Rakyat initiative is one of the Indonesian government’s education programs aimed at expanding access to quality education for underprivileged communities. The teacher recruitment process is expected to provide competent educators capable of supporting the program’s long-term objectives in various regions nationwide.

As of July 26, 2026, the government has not announced any mass withdrawal of applicants or any suspension of the recruitment process.
