Indonesian Lawyer Muhammad Ari Pratomo: Divorce and Child Custody Cases Are Not About Winning or Losing, but About the Future and Eternal Responsibility

JAKARTA, Indonesia  August 3, 2026  Indonesian lawyer Muhammad Ari Pratomo has emphasized that divorce and child custody disputes should never be viewed merely as legal contests between opposing parties. Instead, he believes these cases concern a child’s future and carry profound moral and spiritual consequences that extend beyond the courtroom.

Speaking on the broader principles of family law, Pratomo stated that legal proceedings involving divorce and child custody should prioritize the well-being of children rather than the personal victory of either parent.

“Divorce and child custody cases are not about winning or losing. They are about a child’s future and our responsibility in this life and the hereafter,” Muhammad Ari Pratomo said.

According to Pratomo, many family disputes become unnecessarily prolonged because the parties focus on defeating one another instead of protecting the interests of their children.
