JAKARTA, July 26, 2026 — The Chairman of the Indonesian Social Media and Live Streaming Oversight Institute, Muhammad Ari Pratomo, has called on the public to preserve Indonesia’s cultural heritage and uphold the nation’s core values amid the rapid growth of social media and live streaming platforms.

According to Muhammad Ari Pratomo, digital technology has transformed the way Indonesians communicate, access information, conduct business, and express creativity. While these developments have created significant opportunities, they have also introduced new challenges that require responsible digital citizenship.

He emphasized that freedom of expression on social media should always be accompanied by respect for ethics, cultural diversity, and the values that have long united Indonesian society.

“Social media is a powerful tool when used responsibly. Technological progress should strengthen national unity, promote Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage to the world, and encourage constructive, respectful, and ethical public discourse,” Muhammad Ari Pratomo said in a statement.
